When Ryan Nakamura was in the eighth grade at batting practice, he was hit by a ball. Ryan thought he just needed a moment to rest and would be back to practice. His dad, Russ, however, made the decision to take him to Kapiolani’s Emergency Department. By the time they arrived, Ryan was in critical condition. In an emergency, every second counts.
