In a state where communities are separated by ocean, there are times when care is more than a drive away. This is especially true for neighbor island children who need specialized care that only Kapiolani Medical Center for Women & Children can provide.
Southwest Airlines understands the challenge.
“One of the most impactful ways Southwest Airlines connects with communities is through our Medical Transportation Grant Program,” said Kelly Knox, Southwest Airlines corporate responsibility advisor. “This program provides essential travel support to nonprofit hospitals and medical organizations, helping to alleviate the financial burden on individuals who need to travel for care.
“Southwest is honored to contribute to the well-being of Kapiolani patients.”
In 2024, Southwest provided Kapiolani with 100 round-trip tickets, meaning dozens of local patients, families and caregivers will have an easier time accessing lifechanging treatment and care that is a plane ride away.
Kapiolani is one of almost 80 organizations and facilities from 26 states to benefit. Southwest has donated more than $56.6 million since it began its program in 2007.
