Going Beyond Survival
"Be tough. Bounce back. Don’t just survive – go beyond survival." These words encompass the spirit of Captain Jerry Coffee, a decorated war hero and inspirational speaker who touches thousands of people worldwide with his life-changing message of hope, faith, courage and honor.
Coffee is a survivor in every sense of the word, drawing on his grit, determination and optimism again after he suffered a stroke in 2014. Fortunately his family recognized the warning signs of a stroke – the sudden onset of numbness or paralysis, trouble seeing and/or speaking, severe headache, dizziness or confusion - and rushed him to Pali Momi Medical Center, the only certified Primary Stroke Center for West and Central Oahu. When a stroke occurs, time is of the essence: the faster an effective treatment can be administered, the better a person’s chances for recovery.
