Keolamau Yee

Keolamau Yee was born at only 27 weeks, and weighed 1 pound, 10 ounces. She was given less than 1% chance of survival, and brought to the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit at Kapiʻolani Medical Center.

There, doctors informed her mother, Luana, that for every hour Keolamau lived, her chance of survival would increase. After three months in the NICU, Keolamau was strong enough to return home. Her experience at Kapiʻolani inspired her pursuit of medicine, and she is currently attending medical school.
