Special Surprise for Backstreet Boys Super Fan

What a way to celebrate the last day of chemotherapy treatment for Kapiolani pediatric cancer patient Jordan, who also happens to be a Backstreet Boys super fan! She got a special surprise from Backstreet Boys members Nick Carter and Brian Littrell at Kapi‘olani as they joined her and her pediatric oncology team for Jordan's end-of-chemotherapy bell-ringing ceremony. To top things off, they even presented her with tickets to their final concert in Hawai‘i. Nick and Brian also visited with other patients and stopped by Brain Station, Kapi‘olani’s educational program that helps hospitalized patients keep up with schoolwork. Today's Brain Station lesson just happened to be about genetic DNA in honor of the group's DNA World Tour. Brian shared with staff that he was born with a heart defect and received care at a Children’s Miracle Network (CMN) hospital so being at Hawai‘i’s only CMN hospital meant a lot to him. Pediatric patients enjoyed personal meet-and-greets, as well as some touching moments when Nick and Brian sang with hospitalized keiki. Watch this feel-good video for a behind-the-scenes look at how the Backstreet Boys showed their aloha spirit for Hawai‘i pediatric patient families.  Mahalo to Nick and Brian for demonstrating the "shapes of their hearts" with our patients and staff!
