For many, Thursday, Aug. 21, was a dream day in Poʻipū. Sun shone through a clear sky as people strode through more than 15 homes at Kukuiʻula for the 2025 Summer Parade of Homes. As people toured the custom-designed houses, they were also greeted by photos and stories of patients whose lives were changed by their care at Wilcox Medical Center. Then, they were invited to donate to Wilcox’s Mālama Fund.
The fund is a lifeline for families on Kaua‘i, providing essential services such as medication, medical equipment and transportation to those in financial need. In the past five years, the Philanthropy-supported fund has helped more than 1,000 patients. And at the Parade of Homes, people were given the opportunity to help even more.
In 2025, the Mālama Fund helped more than 200 patients receive medications, transportation and medical devices to continue their care at home.
Kukuiʻula added more fun to the fundraiser. Every $25 donation also earned a chance to win resort stays, golf and spa packages, gift sets and more.
By the end of the three-hour event, generous donors had given more than $11,000 to Wilcox.
“We were honored to welcome the community into Kukuiʻula in support of a mission that touches every ʻohana on Kaua‘i – access to quality health care,” said Trinette Kaui, vice president of land assets and community relations for Brue Baukol Capital Partners Kaua‘i, who also serves on the Wilcox board, “Wilcox’s Mālama Fund makes a difference for families across the island, and we hope the event inspired generosity and connection.”
“Wilcox is committed to serving Kauaʻi, so this support from Kukuiʻula and our community is especially meaningful,” said Jen Chahanovich, Wilcox president and CEO and Kaua‘i Medical Clinic CEO. “We’re so grateful for this gift to the Mālama Fund, which helps ensure that everyone, from our kūpuna to our keiki, can get the lifesaving care they need right here at home.”
